This entails methods to starting your own hive, various equipment to use, health and care maintenance strategies, safety protocols, and harvesting. During this workshop, we will discuss how honey is made, the nutritional benefits of honey, it’s medicinal properties, and uses for the honey. At the end, attendees will have a chance to taste raw local honey.

At this interactive workshop, attendees will learn about the lifestyle of a honeybee, become introduced to other bees species, and understand the impact they have on society. Attendees can win prizes in the Bees 101 trivia game.

#4 - Plants and Pollination
Included in this session are effective gardening and horticulture techniques to provide the best wild plant life environment for pollinators. You will learn ways to identify pollinator-friendly flowers and crops. We will close this session with a seed planting activity.

This presentation focuses on “pollinator conscious nutrition”, a region-specific ecological approach to food, nutrition, and health. We'11 look at this through the externalities of beekeeping and how individuals can get involved in helping establish urban ecosystems.
