Our Story
Bee Plus Detroit is a minority owned organization with core values of social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Our journey began with a group of students from Wayne State University that have a collective passion toward ecological sustainability. We saw beekeeping as an avenue to alleviate public health issues in the city of Detroit. Since then, the team has dedicated their efforts to increase awareness of bees and the work we can do with them in the fight against environmental injustice. The name “Bee Plus Detroit” was chosen because of our organization’s priority to the bees. The “Plus” was designated to encompass our other services and goals, especially related to public health and youth engagement. Our mission and approach is region-specific to the city of Detroit. We hope to build a presence within the city to better address the needs of the community through the people. |
